It is with great sadness that we advise of Mike’s passing after a short battle with his illness on Wednesday 22.11.2023 at Wairoa Hospital.

Loved son of Gordon(dec) and Blanche(dec) (nee Garnham) Nissen. Beloved husband of Here Turi Koka. Treasured Dad and father in law of Michael and Michelle, Haylie and Paul, Karaitiana and Tusie, Tatiana IV and John, and Shane and Chrysler. Adored Koro of Tahliya, Ihaka, Trayjuoin, Kahuroa, Elijah, Tiana, Stormee, Sophie-Jay, Poutu, Te Ha-O-Here-Turi-Koka, Tatiana V, Tirokia, and Ngaire-Rain.

Mike will lie in state at his home, 26 Karaka Street Wairoa, from Thursday 23.11.2023 where his funeral service will be held on Saturday 25.11.2023 at 1pm, followed by his burial in the Wairoa Lawn Cemetery.

Friends and whanau are welcome to join us for hakari at home, following the burial.

My sincerest condolences to Here and Mike's whanau. Mike had the biggest smile and the biggest heart and I will miss our chats whenever I returned home to Wairoa. He was a great man with a great heart. RIP my friend.
