Transport
We provide transport from the removal right through the funeral process to any destination whether it be local or rural, to a private residence or Marae.
We transport to either Gisborne or Hawke's Bay for cremations.

Embalming
The care and respect that Pickering Funeral Services gives to a deceased person begins from the time they are transferred from the place of death to our funeral home. All our staff are fully trained in conducting the transfer in a dignified and caring manner whether the place of death is in a private home, hospital or more public place. This standard of care continues right through the entire process of the funeral preparations. When you advise us of the death we will ask you whether you wish the deceased to be embalmed, and discuss your options around this.
We always seek signed or verbal approval before a person is embalmed. We have qualified embalmers on staff who take care of the preparation of the deceased. At all times every deceased person is handled with dignity and care. We hold a great deal of significance to the preparation of the deceased for viewing; the dressing and grooming of the deceased person is an important part of this process, and in most cases the family are more than welcome to be present and assist in this aspect of the presentation. The result of embalming is that the deceased person is presented in a clean and hygienic way, making the deceased safe for family members and loved ones to spend valuable time with.

The Chapel
Pickering Chapel is a 100 seat capacity venue, with the ability to cater for more in our outside covered area. We have live streaming facilitates which allows people from anywhere in the world to be able to view the service either live or at their convenience online, it allows family and friends to feel like they are part of the ceremony and in attendance. Our fully equipped with sound system and audio visual setup for your loved one’s music and photo tributes to be listened to and displayed. The ideal venue for the family that may not wish to have a religious service.
Burial or Cremation
We can take care of all the arrangements for burial or ashes interment in the Wairoa cemetery.
We can arrange for either option.
There is no crematorium in Wairoa, our preferred option is Gisborne Crematorium. But alternatively, we can arrange for cremation in Hawkes Bay and beyond if this is requested.

Death Registration
We collect all the information from during the funeral arrangement. After the deceased has been buried or cremated, we will register the death with birth, deaths and marriages. Once the Death Certificate arrives we will have copies made for you and certified by a Justice of the Peace. You will need these for Lawyers, banks and such.
Headstones
We can arrange headstones, granite panels, perminite tiles and bronze plaques for you.
