Born 22/02/1946 and died peacefully on Sunday, 02/01/2022 after his battle with cancer.
02/01/2022 we lost the strongest, gentle and loving man. A father, a son, a brother, a husband, a grandpa, a friend, a teacher, a coach, a true role model. Rest easy now Dad, your fight is over and you can now be with Mum. You are loved, you will be missed and you will be forever remembered. On Saturday 8th January 2022, at 2.00pm, we welcome all friends and family to join us in celebrating and farewelling Mike and Judie at St Patrick’s Church Napier. Judie passed away on 22nd August 2021, just 5 months before her beloved husband. They can finally lay to rest together in peace. Vaccination passports will need to be shown on arrival. After the service there will be a short and simple gathering at the church hall for a cuppa tea. For those that wish to join us, we will be gathering at The Speight's Ale House from 4pm where Dad has asked that we all have a whiskey on him and share stories and laughter and remember the good times.

A truly sad loss but now at peace, the girls have had a rough 6 months to lose both mother and father in that short time, we are thinking of you and wish you the deepest sympathy.

My memories go way back to our rugby playing days in Wairoa when Celtic and Tapuae fought for glory on Lambton Square on a Saturday afternoon, all we wanted to do was rub your nose in the mud and show you who was boss, but after we cleaned up and met at the clubhouse we were the best of mates again. Was so good to catch up Mike when we were both patients in the Hastings hospital and relive those glory days in all its gory detail. Unfortunately you didn't recover and you lost your beloved Judie during your stay there as well. Our deepest sympathies to your two girls and your extended whanau from Jim and Marie Edwards.

Sad news to hear of Mike and Jude's passing. They were both such down to earth, good sorts and there will be many who share my thoughts. Working at Wairoa College days are but a memory but those days were good.
