With the heaviest hearts, we announce the passing of Rihi McKenzie, who departed this life on December 16th 2025. Rihi was a devoted husband to Jan, a loving father to Bradley and Amber-Jane, and a treasured Pups to Lenny. He was a much-loved and respected man, deeply cherished by his wider family, friends and all whose lives he touched. A service will be held at Pickering Funeral Chapel on Thursday, 18th December, at 10am . Following this service, Rihi will travel to Kahungunu Marae, Nuhaka, where he will lay until Saturday, 20th December. On Friday evening, a poroporoaki will be held for family and friends. This will be a time for shared memories and tributes, with the floor open for those who wish to speak. A funeral service will be held at the marae on Saturday at 10am Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and pay their respects as we gather to honor and celebrate Rihi’s life.

No more suffering dad. Cherished and loved by Lyn. Loving dad to Pamela & Amos, Stephen & Juliana, Deanna & Mike, Cook & Moa, Mana and Kahurangi. Loved papa to all his mokopuna and mokomoko, respected uncle to all his nephews and nieces, brother and brother-in-law to many. As per Pete’s wishes, he stayed with his family last night and will travel to Gisborne today, 9/12 for cremation. No more lawns dad, rest now. Time to hang the tools up bro. Brother-in-law who will be missed. We will look after Lyn, Kiki. Albert, Kingi, Marshall, Jones, Te Rangi, Panapa, Roberts, and Kaimoana families. Passed away peacefully on Thursday 4 December 2025, aged 86.
