It is with much sadness we advise the peaceful passing of John at his home on Wednesday 4th February 2026.
Loved husband and best friend to Jane. Awesome Dad to Bernard, Philip(dec), Matt and Andrew. Treasured Step-Dad to Jess and Dave of Ireland. Proud Poppa to all his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Cherished Son, Brother and friend to many. John will lie at his home, 88 Kopu Road from Friday 6th February. His funeral service will be held at St Peters Catholic Church on Saturday 7th February at 11am followed by his interment in Wairoa Lawn Cemetery by his son, Philip. It is with great sadness that we advise whanau and friend of the passing of our taonga, “Ling”, at his whare on Monday 26th January 2026.
Loved and loving Son, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin and loyal friend to many. Ling will lie at Waimako Marae from Tuesday 27th January until Thursday 29th January, where his tangi will be held at 10am, followed by his burial in Te Orangi Tirohia Urupa. As Ling would say “True Bro” 21 December 1957 - 26 January 2026
Peacefully passed away surrounded by her whanau. Beloved wife of Tony, Mother to Jacque, Tangi, Ethel, Diane, Stephanie, Philly, and Michael-Les, grandmother and Great Grandmother to all her mokopuna. Tegal was a deeply loved husband to Raelene “Trena”, father to Des and Suzie, papa to Shyanne, Desi and Teira. Brother to Charlie Smith, Estelle Blake, Corrinne Birch (dec), Alfred George Smith (dec). Beloved uncle, brother-in-law and friend to many. Tegal will travel to Kahungunu Marae on Monday, 5 January at 10am, where he will lie in state until the funeral service on Tuesday, 6 January at 11am. Following the service, a private cremation will be held in Gisborne. Thank you all for your love and support. 70 years young, Johnny passed peacefully in the excellent care of the team at Gracelands Hastings early Wednesday morning 31 December 2025.

Hanham was a deeply loved partner, father, and whānau man who will be dearly missed. He is survived by his partner Te Paea, and his children Cherish, Zahlee, HineAio, Hinetaitapu, Wade, Cj, and Tane. Hanham will arrive at Mohaka Marae at 1.00 pm on Wednesday, 31 December 2025 where he will lie in state for two nights. The funeral service will be held at 11.00am on Friday 2nd January 2026. Following the service Hanham will travel to Gisborne for cremation. Those accompanying him will leave immediately. Whānau and friends are welcome to remain for the hākari at 1.30pm Arohanui to all who mourn him. Thank you all for your love and support. |
