Celebrating the Life of Steve Broomfield. We honour the memory of Steve Broomfield—a husband, father, author, and submariner. Steve was a man of quiet strength and immense intellect. Whether serving beneath the waves in the British Submariner Corps, running safari tours in Africa, or penning stories as a published author, he moved through the world with the character of a true English gentleman. He found great peace in nature and the greatest joy in his marriage to his devoted and loving wife, Di. He leaves behind his children Paul (Australia), and Claire (France), and sister Lorraine (England), and a lifetime of beautiful memories of Wairoa and his treasured 'Bush Valley' on Whakamahi Road. His kindness and caring soul will never be forgotten. Following his cremation, a private ceremony will be held.

Nicky reminded me of the great time we had in the Flinders and on the River Murray. I just wanted to let everyone know how mightily impressed I was with my Brother In Law the strength of his love for my sister. Their bond is an inspiration. Massive loss.

The word that comes mind when we think of Steve is Steadfast. Steadfast in his love and support for our daughter Diane when she has most needed it. Steadfast in his courage and resilience over the last 7 years when many lesser men would have ceded victory to such an implacable opponent. May you indeed rest in peace now Steve as you deserve. You will be sorely missed. Lesley and George

We came to know Steve as a gentle and kind-hearted man, with a deep love and great devotion to my sister Di. His subtle sense of humour and his calm voice warmed the heart, and his character was truly endearing.
